Hidden Benjarong Vessel

This design transcends the conventional definition of a vase, presenting instead a contemporary vessel that conceals Thai art within its form. The artist draws inspiration from the ancient technique of Benjarong painting, which was traditionally applied to the exterior surface of ceramic wares.

In this work, the tradition is reinterpreted through a new perspective, with contemporary patterns intentionally placed inside the vessel rather than on the outside. The form is then segmented and divided into sections to reveal the interior while simultaneously creating a new sculptural structure and function. Through this process, the vessel becomes both a design object and a space where traditional Thai decorative art is rediscovered and reimagined within a modern context.
